I thought I could picture it in my head,
but seeing the actual low-angle image was
astonishing, beyond anything
I could have imagined!

"For example, when I knelt on the ground, and held the camera just about at ground level, I looked at the Live View monitor and saw a scene that literally bowled me over - it was like nothing I had ever seen before.
"This kind of extreme low-angle shooting was previously impossible so it truly is a completely new world of imaging.
"You really can't imagine what it is like until you experience it for yourself.
"And I could use it in a comfortable posture. Live View never forces the photographer to take an uncomfortable posture.
"There's another advantage too. Haven't you noticed that when you take pictures of a child, the child's facial expressions do not look so natural through the viewfinder of an SLR camera?
"That's because children get a little nervous or tense when you point an SLR camera at them.
"But, if you use Live View, you can hold the camera at your waist and look at the child subject without having to look through the viewfinder, so you can capture more natural facial expressions since the child will be less conscious of the presence of the camera. In this way, you can take pictures full of surprises, from fresh viewpoints.
"Live View frees you from the viewfinder, allows you to shoot pictures while directly looking at or talking with the subject, and eliminates the mistakes you often used to make."

Live View also displays shooting
information on the monitor.
Autofocusing, framing,
exposure compensation and white balance
can all be set on the monitor screen.

"With Live View, you can check the image before you shoot it.
"And not just how it looks. You can check exposure compensation, white balance and color reproduction. You can also check focusing by magnifying Live View and adjusting the focus manually.
"The 2.5-inch TFT LCD panel used with Live View already enjoys well-deserved reputation for high resolution. It is a HyperCrystal LCD panel with wide viewing angles of 176° in all directions - up-down and left-right, and its surface brightness has been increased by about 20% over the previous model.
With the E-1's successor, we have also increased the mirror drive speed to significantly reduce the release time lag during Live View operation. I am sure everyone is going to be very satisfied," nodded Mr. Ogasawara serenely, his calm expression exuding confidence.
