“The pentaprism housing on the top of the E-1's successor is angled dramatically forward, as though announcing its presence to the world. In fact, it is a symbol of the camera's bright, easy-to-use viewfinder, which was newly developed in response to user feedback.
“A high-quality optical glass prism is use to deliver a big viewfinder image with distortion-free clarity. In addition to assuring a bright, easy-to-view image, it provides large viewfinder magnification and a field of view.
“But to the person taking pictures, the back of the camera is far more important than an impressive front view. So for the E-1's successor, we wanted the rear view to speak to the photographer directly. The arrow keys, for example, are inclined toward the photographer's right thumb for easy operation. Controls are also designed to visually assert their presence, but are recessed to prevent accidental operation.
“In addition, the flowing contours of the camera's overall S-shaped form are not only dynamic and aesthetically pleasing, they also contribute to handling and operating ease in actual use.”
