This is obviously beyond the capabilities of today’s manufacturing machinery. The ultimate in lens grinding is achieved by the human hand of master craftsmen. People are our treasure, and at OLYMPUS we believe that only manufacturers that have inherited these optical technology traditions are able to produce such masterpieces.
The high level of resolution and representation with the ZUIKO DIGITAL lens has captured the hearts of many professional photographers. Many of the numerous lenses that have left their mark in history were born at the OLYMPUS Tatsuno Factory. It was at this location of rich nature and a view of the Japanese South Alps, that the lens and camera factories that were previously separated were brought together as a single production facility, creating a synergy effect from each other’s technologies. And now, only lenses that have passed a strict level of inspection known as Tatsuno Quality are allowed the honor of the ZUIKO DIGITAL name. That master craftsmen working at the Tatsuno factory are also hard at work transferring their know-how to a younger generation.
